Human Trafficking

Considering the situation of Human Trafficking in West Bengal the State government has prepared plan of Action for combating the same. The major components of the action plan are as follows:

  • Prevention
  • Protection
  • Prosecution
  • Reintegration and Rehabilitation

The State Plan of Action on Human Trafficking defines anti Human Trafficking strategy that balances criminal justice concerns with the need to ensure the rights and protection of victims. This strategy divides its principles from the protocol to prevent, suppress and punish trafficking in persons, specially Women and Children (United Nations Trafficking Protocol). The plan recognizes rescue and rehabilitations as a priority area to be focused on with particular actions and monitoring indicators.

GGBK’s plan of action is in alignment with State Plan of Action on Human Trafficking and in fact it supplements the same in South and North 24 Parganas Districts.
